Looking to Get a New Mobile Phones? Read on.

A lot of my friends have been what I like to call phone buyers. People like these buy the newest models of cell phones just because they are new. I've been watching their "joyous behavior," and I've realized that these people switch from one cell phone to another because they don't think about their needs when they buy their own cell phones. What happens then? They end up buying the newest model phones, but they don't work for their needs.

I don't think it's a good use of money, since cell phones can also cost a lot these days. I think it's a waste of money and time, especially since the prices of cell phones tend to go down quickly. I don't want to waste money, so here are some things I'll think about before I buy a new cell phone for myself.

I know that most mobile carriers offer basic features like the ability to make calls and send text messages, call forwarding, call waiting, and voice mail, so I won't get those.

1. Screen size.

Since I'm what most people call a "mobile professional," this is one of the most important things for me to think about. The screen on my cell phone should be big enough that I can look at Word files and spreadsheets without having to squint. It should also be big enough for me to easily go online and look at websites. Since I use an online fax service and will also use my cell phone as a portable fax machine, the screen should be big enough for me to easily see my messages.

2. Mode. A mobile professional travels a lot, and you should know that I don't just go around the United States because I also run the department of your company that deals with foreign relations. I go to different countries, and we all know that each country uses a different frequency for their cell phones. Then, I'll look for a quad-band phone, which would let me connect with almost any carrier in any country I visit.

3. A type of battery. There are different kinds of batteries for cell phones, and I'd like one that charges quickly and lasts for hours or at least days. Since I travel a lot, I don't always have access to power outlets so I can charge my phone when the battery dies. The last cell phone I used had very short battery life. In the middle of an online fax transmission, I was cut off, and it took a long time for the fax message I was trying to send to go through again.

4. Performs other tasks. In addition to the things I've already mentioned, my new cell phone should have "functional features" like customizable ring tones, automatic redial, web browsing, word processing, spreadsheets, and the ability to organize (organizer, tasks, notes, calculators, etc.). Hey, I'm a mobile worker. Instead of bringing my laptop with me everywhere I go, I'd rather have my phone do that for me.
